The growing practice of green funerals and burials is a way to provide an alternative to those practicing environmental consciousness and being eco-friendly. Here at Gabaldon Mortuary we respect the decisions and awareness of those that want to be provided with a green funeral service.
The use of biodegradable products such as caskets, shrouds, and urns made of eco-friendly materials that help reduce environment impact and are considered “green” funeral products.
What is a “green” funeral?
A green funeral can include all of the following basic options:
- No Embalming
- Embalming with use of formaldehyde free products
- Use of Sustainable biodegradable products
- Use of Organic flowers
- Natural or green burial
What is a Natural or Green Burial?
The body is buried, without embalming in a natural setting tht allows it to return to the earth as quickly as possible. This burial is also called natural burial or eco-burial.
Is Cremation considered “green”?
In general, cremation is not considered “green” however it does use fewer resources than conventional forms of disposition.
