Cecile Zimmer Gerken, age 84, born in 1934 in Youngstown, Ohio and resident of Albuquerque since 1946, passed away Monday, January 14, 2019. Cecile attended St. Vincent Catholic School where she graduated in 1952 and then married Rudolph Gerken in 1956. She was an active and faithful member of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church since 1962. Cecile enjoyed traveling after her retirement from the city of Albuquerque. Cecile is survived by her children, Mary Harmer, David Gerken and wife, Lea, Debbie Wafer and husband, Mike and Drew Gerken; sister, Benita Zimmer; brother, Ray Zimmer and wife, Barbara; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Cecile was preceded in by her beloved husband, Rudolph and her grandson, Adam Harmer.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna Dr. NW with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.; a final visitation will be held Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. A Committal Service will follow services at 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Gerken, Drew Gerken, Trevor Wafer, Mike Wafer, John Lynch and Kane Ball. Honorary Pallbearer will be Ray Zimmer.
