Alex Jiron, age 101, a lifelong resident of Isleta Pueblo, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016.  Mr. Jiron is survived by his sister, Carlota Jiron; and numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.  Mr. Jiron was preceded in death by his wife, Eulalia.  Alex was a member of the Catholic Church, and a member of the Retired Carpenters Union.  He was very proud to be the Valedictorian of the Albuquerque Indian School, Class of 1934.  Visitation will be Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Isleta Pueblo, NM with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 by Nizhoni Abeita-Mendoza, Angel Abeita, Camila Abeita, Cassandra Reckaway, and Peshy Martin. Final  visitation will be Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the Church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Father George Pavamkott, presider.   Interment will follow at the Isleta Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Matthew Lucero, Lucas Lucero, Nabahe Abeita, Adrian Reckaway, Chris Mendoza, and Juan Rey Abeita.  Honorary pallbearer will be Hubert Abeita.
