Alex Tavasci, 80, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022. He is survived by his faithful companion, his pug, Missy, brother Mark Tavasci, of Albuquerque and his companion and caregiver of 39 years, Laura Naranjo; son Eric Naranjo and fiancée, Carrie; grandchildren, Athena, Faust and Kiomara of Eagle River, Alaska daughter, Dana and husband, Jeff; grandchildren Josh and Devin, of Hoover, Alabama; three nephews Mario, Marcos, and Nikko Tavasci; four nieces Renee Gallegos, Michelle, Christina, and Katrina Tavasci; nine great nephews; ten great-nieces; six great-great nephews; longtime friends, Winona Fleming and family, of Buffalo, N. Y., Amy Kalkman, of Albuquerque, Val Anderson of Albuquerque and two very special people in his life James Anderson of Albuquerque, and Luke Anderson of Moore, Oklahoma; numerous, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph, and Mary Margaret Tavasci; brother Mario; sister Margaret Frances Tavasci, and his first pug, Bubbles. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia 76ers. He loved going dancing at the former Sundance Saloon. He had a passion for fishing and would go to Tingley Beach, Chama River but especially enjoyed his time with Juan (Laura's dad) fishing at the Santa Clara Canyon. Visitation will be held in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW, at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2023, with a Rosary to be recited by Cris R. Velarde of Santa Clara Pueblo at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church 5901 St. Joseph Dr. NW. on Friday, January 13, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. Interment of his ashes will follow the Mass at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd., N. E. The family would like to thank all the medical staff and nurses for the excellent care given to Alex while at UNMH Medical ICU, with special thanks to Jonathan Duggan, Nephrology Dept in keeping Laura updated.
