Amelia Hernandez

Amelia Hernandez (Lopez) age 84, born in Los Lentes, New Mexico, and resident of Los Lunas, passed away Monday, July 16, 2018.  Mrs. Hernandez is survived by her children, Mildred Chavez and husband, Ambrose, Daniel Hernandez and wife, Bernadine, Yolanda Hernandez, Cynthia Romero and husband, Patrick; siblings, Lucy Jaramillo and husband, Ambrosio, Sally Lopez, Alfonso Lopez and wife, Grace, Erleen Franco and husband, Robert; grandchildren, Jennifer Baca and husband, Brian, Kimberly Burkhard and husband, Christopher, Amanda Noriga and husband, Antonio, Victoria Trujillo and husband, Daniel, Frances Gutierrez and husband, Brandon, Matthew Hernandez and wife, Angela, Patrick Romero, Christopher Romero, Gabriel Romero; eleven great-grandchildren; godchildren, Ben Lopez, Darlene Ramirez, Alcie Sanches, Jennifer Baca and Matthew Hernandez; many nieces, nephews, siblings-in-law, cousins and friends.  Mrs. Hernandez was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Daniel; parents, Higinio and Gracia Lopez; mother and father-in-law, Pablo Sr and Manuelita Hernandez; siblings, Max Lopez, Felipe Lopez, Estella Lopez and Virginia Lopez.

Amelia was a lifelong member and parishioner of San Clemente Catholic Church in Las Lunas.  She was retired from Los Lunas Public Schools.  Amelia loved Gardening, puzzles, crafts and shopping. She cherished and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she loved family gatherings.  Her family would like to extend a special thanks to Kindred Hospice Care Unit and all the staff as well as a special thanks to the Franciscan Friars for their spiritual guidance.

A visitation will be held Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at San Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas, 244 Luna Rd NE, a Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.  A Committal service will be held Monday, July 23, 2018 at 12:45 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Hernandez, Patrick Romero, Christopher Romero, Gabriel Romero, Brian Baca and Christopher Burkhard.
