Arcelia "Arcy" Jaramillo, age, 73, passed away at Hermann Memorial Medical Center in Houston, TX on Thursday, March 26, 2015, following heart surgery and a hard fought effort to recover.  Arcelia was a resident of Albuquerque, but was born and raised in Duran, NM, attending school in Duran and Encino, NM.  Arcy had a deep faith in God and was an active parishioner and member of the Altar Rosary Society at Santuario de San Martin de Porres Catholic Church, Albuquerque, NM as well as at Mount Carmel Society of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Duran, NM.  Arcelia is survived by her children, Carla Jaramillo and  Vinita Pedroncelli, Henrietta Jaramillo and Todd Stewart, Judith Jaramillo and David Chavez, James "Jamie" Jaramillo and Rachel "Grace" Gutierrez; sisters, Carmen Larranaga and husband, Flavio, and Leonor  "Nonie" Mendez; grandchildren,  Joshua, Dominic, Ethan, Nevaeh, Evinn, and Jayden; goddaughter, Rose Marie Hijar, and daughter, Kyra; godson, Bruce Jaramillo; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Arcelia was preceded in death by her parents, Guillermo and Casimira Hijar; son, Jeremy Jaramillo; sisters, Inez Lucero, and Mary Ellen Hijar.  When she wasn't busy caring for those around her or spending time with her family and friends she enjoyed puzzles, reading books, making apple butter, jerky or the many other delicious treats and meals she was known for.  According to her grandson, Ethan, she was not just a "regular" grandma, she was "very talented" and was often busy crafting blankets, Christmas ornaments and quilts.  She brought smiles and laughter with her wit to those who had the pleasure of spending time with her.  Arcelia was an amazing and loving mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, godmother, and friend.  Her untimely death has brought great sorrow to those whose lives she touched, and the hearts that will forever hold her close. Visitation was Saturday, April 4, 2015 in the Gabaldon  Memorial Chapel, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. and a Rosary was recited at 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 13, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Duran, NM. Interment will follow in the. Duran Cemetery.
