Benjamin Garza Moreno, age 71, born in, Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico and a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Monday, February 27, 2017, with his family by his side. Mr. Moreno is survived by his wife of 49 years, Doris Moreno; step-father, Santiago Puente; children, Claudia Moreno Dimas and husband, John, Jessica Duran Moreno, Ariel B. Moreno and wife, Nora, and Loida J. Moreno; sisters, Elisama Puente and Eva Hernandez; brothers, Aaron Puente, Abisai Puente, and David Puente; grandchildren, Ann, Joshua, Asher, and Ernest. Mr. Moreno was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Moreno; mother, Eva G. Puente; infant son, Felipe Moreno; grandmother, Trinidad Urbina; and aunts, Alicia G. Puente and Odessa Ventura. Benjamin served honorably in the Army as a medic and achieved his Bachelors of Science degree with Honors from Sam Houston State University in 1978. He retired from Albuquerque Public Schools as an educator.  He was a devout Christian and an active member of the Church of God Seventh Day in Santa Fe. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW; with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. A committal service will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 9:45 at Santa Fe National Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Ariel Moreno, Aaron Puente, David Puente, Joshua Dimas, Steve Monet, and Asher Moreno. Honorary pallbearer will be, Ann Dimas.
