Betty McNeill

Betty McNeill, age 82, resident of Albuquerque, passed away October 6th, 2018 in her beloved home.  Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1936, to Pete and Jennie Trujillo, Betty was a proud lifelong resident of the Los Padillas Community.  Raised by her cherished grandparents, Tita and Papa, she learned how to live a life full of exuberant love and gratitude.  Betty was married to Gene Padilla for 25 years and they had three children, Debbie, Bonnie, and Geno Padilla.  Betty married her “Babe”, Don McNeill, in October 1975, where they spent a loving life together building their dream house and traveling with their pet, Clouseau.

Betty was a devout Catholic who attended St. Augustine Parish. She had also been an active member with The Altar Society and Church Choir at Ascension Parish.  She held positions as a dental office manager and school bus driver for Albert Sanchez Bus Co.  In addition to her three children, Betty is survived by five grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and her extremely supportive siblings, Louis Trujillo and wife, Bea, Bill Trujillo and wife, Cheryl, Theresa Saiz and husband, Louie.  She was preceded in death by her revered parents; sister, Mercy Baca; husband, Don McNeill; as well as various other loved ones.

Betty will be remembered for her contagious smile, laughter, and as someone who made everyone feel special.  She was an open door, open arms, and open heart.  We will miss her signature food dishes and meticulous nature but we will honor her life the way she lived it, with passion and joy.

A Rosary will be recited on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 71 Tribal Rd 35, Isleta Village Proper, NM 87022 with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with Father George Pavamkott officiating.  A private burial for Betty will be held by the family at Los Padillas Cemetery at a later date.

The family looks forward to visiting with all the guest afterwards, at the Parish hall, to share stories and celebrate her life.
