Catalina Chavez, age 88, born in Torreon, New Mexico, and a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday,  March 16, 2016.  Mrs. Chavez is survived by her children, Mary Helen Lucero and husband, Ron, LouAnn Mendoza, and Floyd Chavez; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; siblings, Theresa Otero, Jesus Chavez, Alfred Chavez, Tracy Lopez, Margaret Coder, JoAnn Fagan, Raymond Chavez. Mrs. Chavez  was preceded in death by her husband, Adonio Chavez; son, John Vincent Chavez; parents, Alfredo and Anita Chavez; and brothers, Francisco Chavez, and Eduardo Chavez. Visitation will be Monday, March 21, 2016 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Pablo Chavez.  Final visitation will be Tuesday, March 22, 2016  from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at St. Edwin Catholic Church, 2105 Barcelona Rd. SW  with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Father Bijoy Frances, presider. Interment will follow at the Torreon Cemetery, Torreon, NM. Pallbearers will be David Mendoza, Fernando Griego, Damion Lopez, Julian Torres, Jonathan Capehart, and Lawrence Apodaca. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Torres, Fernando Griego Jr., Josiah Lopez, and Isaac Lopez.
