Daniel Villescas, age 85, born in Roswell , NM, April 11, 1931, and shortly thereafter his family  moved to Albuquerque where he  became a  lifelong resident of Albuquerque,  passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 after battling cancer.  Mr. Villescas is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-one years, Maria C. Villescas;  sister, Aurora Potts;  children, Cynthia Arrigo, Sandra Gobel and husband,  Dennis, John Villescas, Daniel Villescas and wife, Gretchen, Richard Villescas, and Omar Villescas; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;  many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Daniel was a retired Veteran of the U.S.  Army, serving during the Korean Conflict,  and the  U.S. Navy serving during Vietnam Era. After  being discharged from the Army he worked for the City of Albuquerque, and then re-enlisted with the Navy where he retired in 1983. Daniel was a loving, caring, and religious family man, enjoying gardening in his spare time, and was very faithful to his church.  Visitation will be Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 3:00 p.m. by Patricia Muniz-Roberts.  Final visitation will be Monday, July 25, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Rd. SW with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Father Erasmo Romero, presider.  A Committal Service will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:15 a.m.  Pallbearers will be Omar Villescas Jr., John Villescas, Daniel Villescas Jr., Richard Villescas, Omar Villescas Sr., and Curt Morey.
