Delano García age 72, born April 23, 1949 to Jacobo and Josefita García was raised in Las Vegas, New Mexico and resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He passed away on July 13, 2021. Mr. García is survived by his wife of fifty years, Maria A. García; daughter, Cynthia and partner David Acuña, daughter Vivian Lara and husband, Mario, daughter, Teresa and life partner, Everado León; grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Evangelyn, and Amariz; brother, Jake García and brother, Eloy García and partner, Gloria Dooley; sister, Barbara Carrasco and husband, Armando; sister in-law, Cora Garcia; many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. Mr. García was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving his country during the Vietnam Era. He retired from many diverse and honorable professions, including assisting the elderly. He was an active community member in Albuquerque’s South Valley and throughout the state of New Mexico. He also served two terms in the New Mexico State House of Representatives (District 12). Mr. García was decorated with the Defense Service Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and the Air Force Longevity Service Award. Delano’s life celebration will begin on July 21, 2021 with a visitation at 7:45a.m. A Rosary to be recited at 8:15a.m. all to be held at St. Anne Catholic Church 1400 Arenal Rd. SW. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 9:00a.m. on July 21, 2021. Military Committal service will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021 at 2:15 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery 501 N. Guadalupe St. Pallbearers will be Joshua Lara, Jacob Lara, Erik Garcia, Armando Carrasco, Anthony Smith, Frank Baca, Carlos Robles, and Sylvester Stanley. Honorary Pallbearers: Danny Garcia and Manuel Sanchez.
