On July 8, 2022, Dolores Martinez departed from this life to join her Ernesto in an eternal dance. She also reunites with her son, Phillip, her mother and father and 15 departed siblings. We say goodbye to a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend but take comfort in her newfound peace and return to long lost loved ones. Her earthly obligation is fulfilled as we gather to celebrate her life and lay her finally to rest. Dolores was born in Veguita, New Mexico to Hilario and Albina Carrillo on Sunday February 16, 1941. She grew up in Belen, New Mexico and attended St. Mary's, an all girls high school. She was known to take care of many of her neighbors children and her own younger siblings during this time. She settled in Albuquerque upon Marriage in 1962 where she became a mother of four to children Kenny, Catherine, Phillip, and Dina. She went above and beyond for her children but her love and care extended further. Dolores and Ernesto took many into their home including Dolores' mother Albina, and brothers Clarence and Nabor. Once her children grew and had families of their own, she took on the role of grandmother with exceptional ease. She spoiled all of them. Dolores was an adamant dog lover and prolific cook. Her traditional New Mexican dishes were unmatched. She loved traveling with her husband, shopping, and going to the casino with her sisters and friends. She was known to poke fun and tell jokes. She was a huge flirt. In her youth she loved swimming and the beach, she even participated in her High School softball team. She was the captain. Dolores is survived by her children, John Kenny Martinez, Catherine Alvarez and husband Abel, Dina Valdez and husband Chad; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister Gloria Carrillo. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernesto Martinez, and son, Phillip Martinez, Siblings Fernandez, Teo, Bertha, Nabor, Marina, Edith, Cipriana, Sabino, Avrora, Patsy, Clarence, and two sets of twin babies.
