Ernest S. Cordero, age 91, passed away peacefully at his home on April 9, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on March 22, 1934, Ernest was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and grew up in the Martinez Town community. He graduated from Albuquerque High School and proudly served in the United States Army. After his military service, Ernest began a long and steady career as a truck driver, eventually retiring from Motor Cargo. Ernest was known for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and deep love for his family. He had a big heart for all those around him, enjoyed bringing smiles and joy to those he loved, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Ernest was also a faithful member of the American Legion Post 100 for over 30 years, where he found community and purpose among fellow veterans. Mr. Cordero is survived by his children, Dolores Cordero, Ramon Cordero and wife, Agnes, Ruben Cordero and wife, Ruby, Jessica Cordero and husband, Larry Lopez; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; siblings, Jessie Mora, Manuel Cordero and wife, Rosalie and Freddie Cordero; several nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Cordero, his parents and several brothers and sisters. Mr. Cordero served his country proudly in the United States Army. Visitation will be held in The Gabaldon Memorial Chapel 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW with a Rosary to be recited by Patricia Muniz-Roberts. The services for Mr. Cordero will be held at Heaven Bound Ministries 4311 12th St. NW Pastor Brandon Page presiding. Interment will take place after the services at Mt. Calvary Cemetery 1900 Edith Blvd NE. Date and times for the services are pending.
