ERNESTO R. BENAVIDEZ, age 83, born in San Acacio, NM and a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Ernesto was loved and adored by everyone who had the honor of knowing him. Mr. Benavidez is survived by his three daughters, Esther B. Milsap and husband, John, Liz Carrillo and husband, Gilbert, Carol Ann Benavidez; sister, Lita Pino and husband, Joe; sister in law, Novie Benavidez ; four grandchildren, Melissa Gibson and husband, Sean, Kevin Farris and wife, Sabrianne, Brian Carrillo, Emilio Garcia Benavidez; three great grandchildren, Cade Gibson, Kenzey Gibson, Sienna Farris: special friend, Corrine Garcia; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Benavidez was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-three years, Antonia (Toni); his siblings, Asencion Montoya, Andrea Giron, Joe Benavidez, Adela Ryals, Terry Montoya, and Susie Padilla. Mr. Benavidez was retired from the University of New Mexico after 31 years. He was crowned the 2006 Prince at the Lovelace Senior Program. He is a trophy winning dancer and was a life long fan of Lobo Basketball and served as a church usher for 18 years at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary and was a survivor of lung cancer and heart conditions. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be Monday, May 18, 2015 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00p.m. with a Rosary to be recited by Lita Pino at 7:00p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW. Final visitation will be Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Anthony Perea, Rick Giron, Ronnie Padilla, Albert Salas, Kennedy De la Pena, Randy Butler. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren. We thank all the medical staff over the years who provided Ernest with quality of life.
