Estella Eras

d. November 28, 2024

We are heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Estella Eras, who died on November, 28, 2024, at the age of 82. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Estella Eras beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on April 26, 1942 in Manzano, New Mexico, to Celedonia and Pablo Garcia as the youngest of eight siblings, all of whom preceded her in death.

In 1961, Estella married the love of her life, Albert Eras. Together they embarked on a life of adventure, living on Air Force bases in Germany, Nebraska, and California, where they raised three sons; Albert Jr., Michael, and Kenneth. They eventually settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Once in Albuquerque, Estella and Albert built a vibrant and inclusive community rooted in their faith and local church. Estella worked for many years as a pharmacy technician at the Veterans Hospital where she was responsible for coordinating procurement of medications for the hospital. Her dedication and compassion left a lasting impression on colleagues and patients alike.

Estella’s life was filled with warmth, laughter, and an unwavering love for the church and her family. She had a giving heart, always seeing the best in people and offering kindness wherever she went.

She was known for her baking, crocheting, drinking countless “cafecitos”, and working on puzzles. She was a fierce competitor, especially when it came to Scrabble. Estelle’s sharp mind and competitive spirit kept everyone on their toes.

Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and community. She will be greatly missed by many.

Estella is survived by her son Mike (wife Connie); grandchildren Michael (partner Sherry), Alexis (husband Derek), Ashley, Modesta, Marcos, and Raquel; great-grandchildren Elianna, Isaac, Saraya, and Lilyana. She is also survived by her son Ken (wife Berlinda); grandchildren Andres (wife Ashley) and Elise; and her granddaughters by son Albert, Abby (husband Austin), Amy (husband Alec). She is also survived by daughter by choice, Gina Sandoval (husband Javier), and grandson Javi.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Albert Eras Sr. and her son Albert Eras Jr.

All who knew and loved her are warmly invited to join us in remembering her life and legacy. The Rosary and Funeral will be held at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 8:15am and 9:00am, respectively, on December 16. A reception will be held afterwards.

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

Psalm 23:4
