Francisca Abeyta

August 14, 2016

Francisca (Frances) Abeyta. Our dear Mom was born May 17, 1920 in Albuquerque, NM,  to Julian and Modesta Vargas, passed away, Sunday morning, August 14, 2016. Frances is survived by her children, Celestino Abeyta, Dolores Robles and husband, Miguel, Alejandro Abeyta and wife, Doris, Louisa Anaya and husband, Joe, Juanita Abeyta, and Margaret Bird; her siblings, Juan, Isabel, and Consuelo; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.  Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Julian; her parents; grandchildren, Rosanna Garcia, and Jacob Garcia; siblings, Lupe, Manuel, Valentina, Shepa, Natividad,  Nicholas, and Rudolpho.  Our Mom began working as a young woman by picking crops throughout the Southwest, then working in shipyards in Oakland, CA, and thereafter, cleaning houses.  Although she worked all week, she always cooked a special Sunday dinner at her "casita" in Los Duranes, which became a gathering place of delicious food, lively conversations, and rich memories shared by four generations of family.  She was a family of faith, who made sure we all received the Sacraments of the Catholic Church.  Mom instilled in us a strong work ethic, value of education, and faith in family.  This last belief led us, her daughters, to care for her in our homes for almost four years.  We will all miss and remember her in our hearts. Mom  was a member of San Felipe de Neri Catholic  Parish or many years.  Visitation will be Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 8:45 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, 2005 N. Plaza, NW with a Rosary to be recited at 9:15 a.m. by Isabelle Barreras;  a Communion Service will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Deacon Tom Perez, presider.  Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Miguel Robles, Michael Robles, Jesse Abeyta, Lupe Vargas, Dennis Sanchez, and Russell Smith. The family would like to thank Hospice of New Mexico for their kind guidance and support these last six months.
