Francisco T. Barela, age 83, born in Hanover, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017.  Mr. Barela is survived by his children, Frank Barela Jr., Sylvia Martin and husband, Cesar, Ted Barela and wife, Adella, Alex Barela and wife, Prescilla, Christine Petronio and husband, Arthur, Yvonne Barela Ortega and husband, Mike, Ruben Barela and wife, Jamie; nineteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two great -great grandchildren;  thirty godchildren; sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Francisco was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary L. Barela; parents, Bartolo and Apolonia Barela; and a daughter in law, Julia A. Barela and many brothers and sisters.  Mr. Barela was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 6:15 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church 562 Atrisco Dr. SW in Albuquerque, NM with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Susie Rodriguez and Rebecca Anaya.  Final visitation will be Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m.  A Committal Service will follow at 11:15 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frank Barela lll, Cesar A. Martin, Mark Barela, Theodore Barela Jr. Michael Ortega, Nicholas Ortega; Honorary pallbearer will be Jacob  Ortega.
