Francisco Steven Nelson, age 32 a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico was called by God to receive his wings. Time stopped for us on August 19, 2024, as our cherished son, father, brother, grandson, family, and friend left to soar in heaven. Surviving him are the loves and most valuable gifts of his life, his beloved gems; Mia, age 14, Francisco, age 10, and Melody, sweet age of 4; his parents, Steve and Candy; sister, Crystal Madrid and husband, Arcenio and brother, Christopher Nelson; nephew, Dominic Madrid, and niece, Nieves Madrid; grandfather, “Tata” Edmund Trujillo; Godmother, Barbara Nelson, Godfather, Augustine Gilbert Trujillo; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Stevie Nelson who left us at 11 years old which is close to the age of Francisco’s son. We envision the brothers meeting up in heaven and celebrating together; his grandparents, Frank and Wala Nelson, great-grandmother, Carmen Nelson; grandmother, “Nana” Lupe Trujillo; aunts, Nieves Trujillo, Esther Trujillo, Elsie Crawford, and Sefe Chavez; special cousins, Stephanie Saiz, Frankie Duran, and Raymond Sanchez. As a young Francisco, he was gifted with a silly personality and always making his presence known. Given the name “BeBe” by his cousins and brother Christopher “Fer-Fer” and later as they matured as time passed, they were called by their given names. His sister Crystal, shy of the age of nine when Francisco was born, became “little mama” and was proud of that role as she would powder his tummy and he’d wait for her to pat his little round tummy and he’d giggle with her, only to repeat again. All siblings shared such a unique bond. As Francisco got older, he was a natural artist and would create art on paper to give out . He loved tattooing and had a passion for cutting hair, although not licensed, he certainly mastered the art of hair cutting. He set up shop in his dad’s garage with signs of prices; $100. for a fade, $5.00 for a bum cut and “Free Pelones”, and with his sense of humor he had a sign that said, “No bad kids allowed”, and if you were lucky to get one of his haircuts, feel blessed as the shop is temporarily closed. Francisco gave the best hugs, and you always felt his energy as he got his strength from God and his family. His weakness was having a giving heart. His plan was to have his own shop that included Mia who loves creating nails and talked and joked with each other often about it. Melody’s favorite memory will be of her dads asking, “who’s my pretty baby?” and Melody replying “I am” and who’s my ugly baby? And Melody replying “My sister”, and the three of them would all laugh. Francisco Jr.’s favorite memory will be their wrestling matches with each other, and Mia’s memory will be, their special private talks together and she always knew she could depend on her dad for anything. His last few months with us were his happiest as we all witnessed and no matter how difficult his struggles were, he always found a way to make us laugh and show us his strength. He was employed at Mor-co battery company and worked hard. He loved his mama’s cooking and inherited the cooking gene from her, ask his kids they would agree. He gave his Mom a simple but most meaningful gift that states “Home is where your Mom is”. We teased him when he came back home and said his Dad and Mom were empty nesters and he was our big bird that came back with a broken wing. Well, our beloved son has earned his wings even if his family wasn’t ready and we hope your flight leads you to our Heavenly Fathers home where there are many rooms and those gone before are waiting for you. Give us signs of your light, let us look up and say, “I know that was you”. Let your feathers fall softly among us and give us moments of happiness and smiles. Our eyes will always look for you, our lips will always speak your name, our hands will always pray for you and our hearts will always feel your presence. You were the last of our children, rest peacefully our beloved baby boy. Hugs and kisses from those who love you and will miss you dearly. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW with a Funeral Service scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Pajarito Cemetery on the corner of Pajarito and Old Coors SW
