Gavino Ricardo Hernandez II (Nino) was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on July 3, 1999. He overcame his first battle at just one year old when he went through surgery for a rare heart condition. This was a predetermination of the strength, will, and resilience that would define who Gavino grew to be, despite the odds against him. He thrived in his childhood with exceeding intelligence and was an exceptional student athlete in football and wrestling. He entered fatherhood at a young age, and created everlasting bonds with his children. He was a hard worker, gifted with a skilled hand. He grew to be an authentic and fearless man. He was always surrounded by family and friends, which was most important to him. Gavino leaves a mark on every person who loves him, and he will be in our hearts long past the end of time.

 Gavino passed away October 6, 2022, Gavino is survived by his mother, Teresa Padilla; father, Gavino Ricardo Hernandez; stepmother, Angel Chavez; daughter, Natalia Hernandez; fiancée, Vanessa Hernandez; sisters, Giana Hernandez, Marissa Gutierrez, Marqui Lucero; brothers, Adrian Gutierrez, Angelo Hernandez, Neeko Hernandez, Dominic Padilla Hernandez; maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Sanchez; paternal grandparents, Loretta, and Gavino L. Hernandez; and a third child on the way. He was preceded in death by his son Gavino Ricardo Hernandez lll, and cousin, Martin Hernandez.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022, in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel located at 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW at 4:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 5:00 p.m. by Pat Muniz Roberts. Final Visitation will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church located at 562 Atrisco Dr. SW. Mass of the Resurrection to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. with Father Patrick presiding. Entombment of the body will follow services at Sunset Memorial Cemetery located at 924 Menaul Blvd NE. Pallbearers will be Dominic P. Hernandez, Neeko Hernandez, Angelo Hernandez, Adrian Gutierrez, Nazareth Gonzalez, and Estevan Gonzalez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roel Pavia, Javier Pavia, Diego Pavia, Victor Manuel Robles, John Lou Contreras, Anthony Ortiz, Martin Hernandez, Isaac Garcia, and Antonio Montoya.
