Genie E. Gurule age 87, went peacefully to be with Our Lord, Wednesday, September 21, 2016. She was the a 4th grade teacher at Lavaland Elementary for 36 years.  Her heart was always open to all people, as she worked relentlessly with St. Vincent de Paul Society, and working outside in her yard brought her such peace and joy.  Genie came to the U.S.  in 1948 at the young age of 19 from Munich, Germany.  She married State Senator and Representative, Albert Gurule.  Genie was the mother of two daughters, Barbara (Susie) and Diane.  She loved her  five grandchildren; and her seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, October 17, 2016 from 9:45 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW with a Rosary to be recited at 10:15 a.m.; Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated  at 11:00 a.m.
