Isaiah Marcus Cordova, affectionately known by many as "Zayzie," “Zahzue,” "Sammy," “Sam,” "Zay," and "Zaiah," left this world far too soon on Friday, September 15, 2023, at the age of 16.
Born on May 7, 2007, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Isaiah was kind and caring, always putting others’ needs before his own. His sweet and silly nature, coupled with a soul full of care and compassion, made him a cherished son, great-grandson, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend.
Isaiah possessed a wisdom beyond his years, coupled with a natural intellectual curiosity that was evident in his sharp and thoughtful conversations. A true "momma’s boy," he shared an unbreakable bond with his mother, Maria Martinez, and had a strong sense of family values instilled by his father, Michael Cordova.
His interests were as varied as they were profound. Isaiah loved shopping with his mom and treasured the moments working alongside his dad. His friendships, both in person and online, were genuine and long-lasting. Isaiah not only appreciated listening to music but also had a passion for creating his own music and music for others. Other interests included lending a helping hand to anyone in need, hanging out with his pets taking silly pictures of them, spending time with his favorite cousin Mia, pursuing fitness, and like his mom, he loved clothes and shoes.
Isaiah is survived by his devoted parents, Michael Cordova and Maria Martinez; his loving great-grandmother, Flora Mascarenas; grandparents Freddi Cordova, Edwin Vigil, Louisa Mascarenas, and Rudy and Gloria Martinez; as well as a many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who cherished his presence in their lives and will miss him terribly.
A rosary in honor of our sweet Isaiah will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 10:15 AM at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, located at 5415 Fortuna Rd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87105. A memorial mass will immediately follow the rosary at 11:00 AM. A reception will be held at Rosario Hall directly across the courtyard from the church following the mass where food and refreshments will be provided.
Isaiah’s quiet strength and subtle impact on all who knew him will forever be remembered and missed. While words can never fully capture the essence of an extraordinary life such as Isaiah's, we find comfort knowing that his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
