Jacob J. Salazar, age 19, was born November 20, 1996 and was called to his heavenly home, Saturday, January 9, 2016.  He was a graduate of Rio Grande High School, Class of 2015,  and was the Class Salutatorian.  He realized the importance of an education and worked hard to be successful.  He was awarded an academic scholarship to his dream college, the University of New Mexico.  Jacob was a “Lobo” before he could even walk. His love of “Legos” influenced his decision to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He successfully completed his first semester and was excited for the start of the Spring semester.  He was a sports enthusiast both on and off the field.  His passions were football and golf. He was an avid Lobo, Cowboy and Red Sox fan. He was inspired by his many dedicated teachers and coaches.  He always lit up the room with his sense of humor and the laughter he shared with everyone. Jacob will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.  Jacob is survived by his parents, Jake and Dolores "Dolly"  Salazar; brother, Josh; sister, Mari; girlfriend, Sarah Romero; grandmother, Alice Martinez; godmother, Christy  “Nana” Vigil  (David); aunts and uncles, Benny Martinez (Eloisa), Joseph Martinez (Laurie), Larry Salazar (Debby), Peter Salazar (Carol), Jose “Joey” Salazar Jr. (Marina), Jeanette Greene (Craig), Andrea Garcia (Joe); cousins, Amanda Ward (Paul-Evie, Isaac), BJ Martinez (Megan), Valerie Martinez (Bobby- Rylan), Leah Martinez (Jeremy),  Little David Vigil, Joleen Salazar (Manuel -Cassie), Debra Manuele  (Joe-Alexander, Dominic), Jeremy Trujillo (Maria-Melissa), Kevin Salazar, Derick Salazar, Brittany Salazar, Joey Salazar, Jessica Greene, Michelle Greene, Jacqueline Greene, Joey Garcia, Clifford Garcia (Tanya), Adrian Garcia (Angela), Sonya Garcia; many other extended family and close friends.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ben Martinez, Jose G and Mella Salazar; godfather, Johnny “Nano” Quintana; aunt, Melissa Salazar.  Visitation will be Friday, January 15, 2016 from 6:30 until 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.  Final visitation will be Saturday, January 16, 2016  at the Church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Mt.
