                       BENAVIDEZ, JOE C., age 93, born in San Acacia, NM and a resident of Albuquerque, passed away  Saturday, June 14, 2014.  Mr. Benavidez is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Novie; children, Cecilia Lujan and husband, Rudy, Joe Larry Benavidez, Duane Benavidez and wife, Michelle; sisters, Andrea Giron and Lita Pino and husband, Joe; brother, Ernest Benavidez; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; many other extended family members.  Mr. Benavidez was preceded in death by his sons, Danny and Raymond; grandson, Mario; sisters, Susie, Terry, Della and   Ascencion.  Mr. Benavidez was a member of the Catholic Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII, past State and District D.A.V. Commander and was an active member of the V.F.W.  Visitation will be Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Mrs. Lita Pino.  Final visitation will be Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. at the Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m.  A Committal Service will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:15 a.m.  Pallbearers will be Christopher Lujan, Antonio Lujan, Pablo Lujan, Nicholas Lujan, Matthew Lujan and Jude Benavidez.  Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Benavidez and Rudy Lujan.
