d. August 06, 2016
Joe C. "Tito" Marquez, age 83, born in Cebolleta, NM, October 20, 1932 and a near lifelong resident of Albuquerque moved on to his eternal joy and rest the morning of August 06, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Our beloved Tito, Dad, Uncle Joe and Captain J.C. Marquez took his last breaths in the comfort of his home, while sound asleep. Tito is survived by Agnes, his loving and devoted wife of nearly 60 years; sons, Gary Marquez and wife, Lorena, and Patrick Marquez; grandchildren, Jared and wife, Britnee, Danielle, Tyler, Helena, Brianne, and Elijah; great grandchildren, Ahnaleah, and Annabella; and his last surviving sister, Sally Flores. Tito was preceded in death by his parents, Patrocino and Juanita Marquez; his son Rick; older brothers, Tranquelino, Alex, Adelio, Herman and Lalo Marquez; and sisters, Raquel Archunde, Isidora Moya, Teodora Jaramillo, and Inez Vallejos. A simple and humble man, Tito enjoyed many accomplishments and triumphs while he was "still on this side of the grass." Beyond being a good husband, dad, friend, and employer, his favorites were his service as a Military Policeman while serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, his 27 year career as a Captain in the Albuquerque Fire Department, and as a small business owner of the Marquez Apartments, the Sun and Shade Carwash, the Classic Carwash, and the Classic Self Storage. Never one to rest on his laurels and always an honest man, he worked at something every day. There are very few who were not touched by his generosity, advice, and support. He was the kind of man who gave his word and kept it, no matter the circumstances, no matter the cost; he said what he meant and did what he said. He gave unconditionally and without reservation. Those that knew him, even a little, are proud to have had him in their lives. Our hero, we knew he would be there every time, all the time. Godspeed Tito. You've more than earned your place among the blessed.
