d. January 25, 2015   APODACA, JOHN B., age 92, born in Monticello, NM and a resident of Albuquerque, passed away at home with his family at his side, Sunday, January 25, 2015. Mr. Apodaca is survived by his children, Elsie Chase and husband, Walter T., Emily Pacheco and husband, Harold P., Darlene Walker and husband, Lawrence, Annette Apodaca, and Genevieve Apodaca; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Apodaca was preceded in death by his wife, Mary M. Apodaca. Mr. Apodaca was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII and was well known as the Mayor of Grandma’s K & I Diner and greeting children with the butterfly gesture. Visitation will be Saturday, January 31, 2015 in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 3:00 p.m. Final visitation will be Monday, February 2, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church, 2401 Broadway SE with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. A Committal Service is scheduled at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45 p.m. Pallbearers will be Lorenzo Romero, Thomas Chase, Christopher Gonzales, Lester Gonzales, Isiah Byer and John Chase.
