Joseph Leroy Smith, age 77, and a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on March 18, 2022. Joseph is survived by his wife, Catherine Smith; nieces and nephews, Susan Valdez, Evelyn Velasquez, Elsie Rasmussen, and Joseph Salas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Flora L. Trujillo, and sisters, Corine Salas, and Patsy La Jeunesse.
Joseph was a member of the SOLO club in Albuquerque over ten years where he met his wife, Catherine. He and Catherine loved their small farm with ducks, geese, lamb, and chickens. He served his country proudly and was honorably discharged from the United States Navy. Joseph was also co-owner of Joey Construction Company from which he retired. He also worked for Albuquerque Public Schools as a carpenter which he also retired from. He was a great carpenter and if it could be built, Joseph would build it. He loved to go dancing, three or more times a week, love gardening, going to the casino, having BBQs, and entertaining. He also enjoyed bowling many years ago and received awards for it. Joseph was very well respected and always followed through with everything he said he would. Services for Mr. Smith are pending
