Katherine Joan Trujillo

Katherine Joan Trujillo, 60, of Albuquerque, New Mexico , passed away on June 26, 2024, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was a brilliant light, filled with love and caring throughout her life, whose bravery was an inspiration to all.

Kathy was born on November 4th, 1963 to Alex and Prescilla Trujillo in Albuquerque, NM. After Kathy graduated from West Mesa High school in 1981 , she went on to study Civil Engineering at The University of New Mexico, while playing basketball for the Lobos. After graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering, she began her career working for the New Mexico State Highway Department as a Civil Engineer, where she worked until retirement for 25 years.

After retiring, Kathy spent time with her family, friends and loved ones, yet eventually she returned to work as the Transportation Division Manager for the Isleta Indian Pueblo. Kathy was an inspiration to all who knew her, excelling in all she attempted.

Kathy is survived by her parents, Alex and Prescilla Trujillo, siblings, Micheal, Theresa, and David, partner, Tammy Lara, and nieces and nephews, Randi (Steve), Jamie (Juan), Marcus, Taylor, Ben, Jenna, Peyton, Jacob, and Parker.

Services will be held at Most Holy Rosary Church (5415 Fortuna Road, Albuquerque NW, 87105) on Monday, July 22nd. The Rosary will begin at 10:15 am, the Mass will begin at 11:00 am, and a reception will follow after the mass in the church gymnasium.
