Laura Torres

Laura Torres, age 87, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in El Rito, NM on June 19, 1937, to Trinidad and Tomas Lucero.Laura had a kind and giving heart, her smile, laughter, and presence would light up a room. She loved singing, dancing, cooking, and coloring. Her favorite color was pink. Her passion was working with flowers. She went to school to become a floral designer and worked in several different floral shops for many years. Family and friends always wanted her to do their flower arrangements for special occasions. Laura served as a docent for the Gutierrez-Hubble House in Albuquerque for many years also helping with managing membership. She enjoyed talking with people whether as a florist, docent or just going shopping (another passion of hers). She celebrated her 60th Wedding Anniversary on Jan 30, 2025, with her husband Robert Torres who she loved deeply and seeing them together was such an inspiration to all. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother (Nana) spending time with her grandchildren and watching them grow up was the most important thing to her. She loved her sons-in-laws, they were the sons she never had. Laura is preceded in death by her mother Trinidad Lucero, father Tomas Lucero, brothers Tommy Lucero and Fabian Lucero, sister Bobbie Rivera and brothers-in-law Paul Rivera, Gilbert Montoya, and George Velasquez.She is survived by her husband Robert Torres; daughters, Laurie Zamora and husband, Rudy, Juliette Torres and Irene Garcia and husband, Joseph; grandchildren, Nick Torres, Jerome “Romo” Torres, Tracey Suina, Ashley Zamora, and Benjamin Zamora; great-grandchildren, Dylon, Kai, Desirae, Marissa, and Hannah. Sister Marie Montoya, brother Raymond Lucero (Judy). Sisters-in-law Jane Lucero, Teresa Velasquez. Brother-in-law, Eloy Torres (Virginia). Hijadas, Romie Adams (Walter) and Shirley Chavez (Ron). Madrina to Jeanette and Tino Lucero, Trinnie and Robert Velasquez. Great niece Kayla Velasquez. As well as many other special aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.Laura will truly be missed by all who knew her. Rest in peace in Heaven. Pallbearers will be Nick Torres, Romo Torres, Joseph Garcia, Rudy Zamora, Benjamin Zamora and Eloy Torres Jr. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. a Rosary will be recited 10:30 a.m. and a Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. all to held at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church located at 8301 Camino San Martin SW, Albuquerque, NM 87121. A Burial will follow the services to Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. loacted at 501 N Guadalupe St, Santa Fe, NM 87501.
