Our beloved mother, La Verne Marie Trujillo passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, November 2, 2021.
La Verne grew up in the Pojoaque Valley of Northern New Mexico where she met her forever sweetheart, George Trujillo. They married and moved to Southern California, where they honeymooned for a few years before moving back to Albuquerque where they settled down and raised their family. La Verne retired as a Paralegal Analyst from the Social Security Administration, where she worked for 40 years, during this time she also served as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for 10 years. She was sweet, kind, and compassionate to all who knew her, always giving a kiss, a smile, and words of encouragement to brighten your day. She was the best “Nana” to her grandchildren, always giving love and support. She enjoyed making decorative and religious crafts and was quite talented in her own right. She adored our family, especially our father, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
La Verne is preceded in death by her parents: Adelaido and Charlotte Serna; husband, George Trujillo; brothers: Arthur L. Serna and Danny D. Serna; sister: Jeanette Serna Faucett. La Verne is survived by her daughter Karen Montaño and husband Richard; daughter Katie Trujillo; brothers: Nick Serna and wife Lola, Lalo Serna and wife Carmen; sister, Sally Alderete and Annabelle Serna; grandchildren: Marisol Montaño and Joaquin Montaño, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and special friends (Alice & Mary).
