Leroy Arthur Lopez

Leroy Arthur Lopez (aka Brown), age 73, of Socorro, NM, passed away on August 22, 2023 in Albuquerque, NM. Leroy was a truly remarkable individual who will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a kind and loving person whose heart knew no bounds when it came to his friends and family. Leroy's love for them was immeasurable and formed the backbone of his entire existence.

Beyond his unyielding devotion to his loved ones, Leroy had a zest for life that was truly contagious. He had an unmistakable passion for singing and dancing to oldies but goodies. Leroy’s enthusiasm on the dance floor was infectious, spreading smiles and creating memories that will forever be cherished.

Another notable aspect of Leroy’s vibrant personality was his unique fascination with rocks and petrified wood. Throughout his lifetime, Leroy collected pieces of earth from every friend or family member who traveled, forming a stunning collection that stood as a testament to his love and curiosity about the world around him.

Throughout his life, Leroy touched the hearts of everyone he encountered, leaving an indelible impact that will be long remembered. His legacy extends far beyond his family, with countless individuals fortunate enough to have been touched by his unwavering love and silly personality.

Leroy is survived by his loving daughter, Trish Lopez, and her partner Clarence Chavez; his daughter Jessica Jojola and her husband Jason Jojola; his son Jay Bujanda; granddaughter Danielle Chavez and her fiancé Aubrie Cavalier; his granddaughter Estrea Chavez and her partner Manny Ocon; his grandson Albert Chavez; his sister Dolores Alderete; his sister Jeanette Ayon; his sister Helen Zambrano and her husband Ernie Zambrano; his brother Junior Lopez and his wife Stella Lopez; and his brother Manuel Lopez and his wife Marie Lopez.

He was preceded in death by his father Heraclio Lopez, his mother Margaret Lopez, his sister’s, Patricia Lopez, Susie Lopez and Isabel Perez, his brother’s, Nester Zamora, and Johnny Lopez.

A ceremony to honor Leroy's life will be held at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, located at 5415 Fortuna Road NW, Albuquerque, NM 87105, on September 12, 2023. The Rosary will begin at 10:15 am, followed by Mass at 11:00 am. A reception will be held afterwards.
