              ORTIZ, LEROY, age 66, born in Las Vegas, NM and a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 at home with his family at his side. Leroy is survived by his wife of forty three years, Frances; children Cruzita Martinez and husband, Daniel, Leroy Ortiz Jr., M.D. and partner, Aaron Abeyta, Monica Sedillos and husband, Matthew; grandchildren, Alex Larranaga, Brittany Montoya and husband, Elias, Hailey Larranaga, LouAnna Urioste, Matthew Sedillos II, and Madelaine Martinez; great-grandsons, Jeramiah Utter and Damien Perez; siblings, Joe, Lorraine, Raymond, James, Johnny, Chavela, Diane, Jeanette, Candido, Tommie, Andrea, and Benny; many godchildren, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Leroy was a member of the Catholic Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam Era and receiving the Purple Heart Medal, Bronze Star Medal with “V” device, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Sharpshooter Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Church of the Ascension Catholic Church, 2150 Raymac Rd. SW from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Final visitation will be Thursday, October 16, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Father Edmond Savilla.  Interment will follow at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Candido Ortiz, Matthew Sedillos II, Matthew Sedillos, Daniel Martinez, Aaron Abeyta, and Alex Larranaga.
