Levi Rubi Lujan was born January 26 1936 to Francisco Antonio Lujan and Josefita Herrera Lujan in Torreon, New Mexico
Levi is preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Josefita. He is also preceded in death by his siblings: Ismael Jose Lujan, Dilia Lujan Silva, Orlando Lujan, Dolores Lujan, Eloisa Lujan, Phil Lujan and Ignacio Lujan. Levi is survived by his brother Fermin Lujan and his sister-in-law Ramona Lujan, and many nieces and nephews.
Levi attended elementary school in Torreon, and some high school in Estancia.
Levi enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1956 and served in Camp Pendleton, California, in the Pacific Ocean, Okinawa, and Pearl Harbor. He also went through the Suez Canal to Beirut and the Philipines.
After his service in the Marine Corps, Levi worked for the US Forest Service turning off forest fires in New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada and Idaho.
He learned cabinet making at TVI (now CNM) and worked as a cabinet maker for several years.
Levi enjoyed listening to New Mexico Spanish music, he especially liked the Garapatas. Levi enjoyed horses and went to rodeos whenever he could. Levi always looked forward to attending the New Mexico State Fair. He went to the State Fair every day, from morning until the fair closed at night, after the rodeo. He liked talking about his ancestors and New Mexico history.
A Rosary will be recited for Levi on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. all to be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Torreon, NM. A Burial will follow services to Torreon Cemetery.
