Lucia Garcia

Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Lucia (Rivera) Garcia, age 86, born to Pedro Rivera and Innocencia Andrade in Saltillo, Durango, Mexico and then a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on July 15, 2022.  Mrs. Garcia  met and fell in love with her husband of sixty-six years, Deacon, Nestor Garcia;  they have five children, Rita Garcia, Nestor Garcia Jr., Ricardo Garcia, David Garcia and wife, Diane, and Rosa Garcia; six grandchildren; Rickilee, Nicolette, Nestor lll, Lydia, Christina, and Cameron; seven great-grandchildren, Joseph, Elijah, Nathan, Dylan, Lucas, Ava and Mia.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved son, Ricardo Garcia, four brothers and six sisters. Lucia loved learning new things and took courses at Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute and studied to become a United States Citizen in 1966, then earned her GED in 1984.  She was a devout catholic and dedicated her life to family, church, and community. She had a strong faith in God and was an active member of the Alter and Rosary Society, Marriage Enrichment program and taught catechism to the young children. She was a very caring and loving person who always made time for everyone, especially those in need. Lucia loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart and took great joy in caring for them and guiding them through life. She loved working with her hands and kept busy with multiple projects of sewing, upholstery, painting and craft work.  She will be remembered for her love, generous spirit, and tireless compassion for others. A visitation will be held on Thursday,  July 28, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm all to be held in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, July 29, 2022, at St. Edwin Catholic Church 2105 Barcelona Rd. SW at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery 1900 Edith Blvd NE. Pallbearers will be Nestor Garcia lll, Joseph Garcia, Elijah Garcia, Cameron Rhea, Chris Umstead, Nathan Umstead.
