Macario Gabaldon was born on January 2, 1931 in Los Lunas, New Mexico to the late Eduardo and Pauline Gabaldon. Macario loved God and life. Macario was a loyal family man, loved his family and his small farm. He enjoyed hunting, hiking, and going on his treasure hunts in the Manzano Mountains. He loved music and to dance. He loved the important things in life, his wife and his family. He enjoyed the little things in life such as the moon, the rain clouds, his animals, and the blossoms on his fruit trees. He enjoyed watching western movies. He was a hardworking man. Macario was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone and everyone and he always left you with a smile.
Macario was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Kathleen Sanchez, his sisters Amelia Torres and Erlinda Gonzales and his sons-in-law Duane Garnand and Jerry Sanchez.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years - Pabla Gabaldon, his brother Oscar Gabaldon, and his brother-in-law Raymundo Torres. By his children Rebecca Garnand, Roberta Sanchez (David Sanchez), Christine Brent (Danny Brent), Toria Flores (David Flores), and Macario Anthony Gabaldon (Tracy Silva). He is survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Roberta Wallings (Joshua), Susan and Vivian. Leon Garnand (Charity) Caleb and Kyra. John Garnand (Elisa) Elijah and Ethan., Veronica Sanchez Cordova (James) Victoria (Cevin), Vanessa, and Viola-Christine.,Christina Sanchez. Noelle Sanchez (Stephen) Mateas and Cyra Grace. David Sanchez II (Adrienne) son David III, Ray Ray, Lillie, and Memphis. Laura Smart (Tyler) Theo, Shepherd, Anica, Aleithia and Eala. Christopher Brent (Cassie) Caleb.Santiago Flores (Kimbra) Gabriel, Olivia, Isaiah Macario. Tina Flores., Reyes Gabaldon and Ivy Noelle Gabaldon. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Macario graduated from Los Lunas High School in 1949. Macario honorably served his country with the US Army in Alaska during the Korean Conflict. He was proud of his job as a Courier and his subsequent retirement from Kirtland Air Force Base. He continued working on his farm and at various occupations until a few months prior to his passing.
Macario’s Visitation will be at 6:30pm on Thursday, June 10, 2021 and a Rosary to follow at 7:00pm all to be held at Gabaldon Mortuary. Mass services will be held at San Clemente Church at 10:00am on Friday, June 11, 2021. Final internment will be at Los Lentes Cemetery after the Mass.
