Mary (Sierra) Trujillo, age 96, went to be with her Lord on December 26, 2019 following complications from an acute stroke and is now in Heaven with our Heavenly Father. Mary was born in 1923 in Zacatecas, Mexico to Guadalupe Sierra and Clara Euzarraga. She was 4 years old when her father brought the family to America to live where he worked for the Santa Fe RR tie plant.
Mrs. Trujillo is survived by her loving children, David Trujillo Jr. and wife, Jeanne, Alice Roybal and husband, Jake, Robert Trujillo, Merlinda Sandoval and husband, Ben, Ted Trujillo and wife Darla, Michael Trujillo and fiancé, Alysha Martinez, her widowed daughter-in-law (wife of Steve) Sophie Trujillo and daughter, Bridgette; grandchildren, Dylan Trujillo, Alisa Rhoads-Shook, Rebecca Roybal-D’Amore, Melanie Roybal, Bobby Trujillo, Bennie Armando Sandoval, Teddy Trujillo, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Anthony Rhoads, Alexandria Cordova, Wesstyn, Octavio, Ariana, and Jacob; great-great-grandchild, Saoirse and siblings, Virginia Castillo, Lupe Sierra and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Trujillo was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Trujillo Sr.; son, Richard Steve Trujillo; siblings, Mateo Sierra, Juan Sierra, Elodia Sanchez, Mike Sierra and grandson, Dominic Sandoval.
Mrs. Trujillo was a member of the Catholic Church and enjoyed attending mass with her daughter, Merlinda. She was a stay at home mom who took great pride in her children and grandchildren. Her children have many fond memories of time spent together: she loved listening to David Jr play the viola and attended many of his concerts, doing arts and crafts with Alice and Merlinda, laughing at jokes and trading cooking tips with Steve when he was alive, having Sunday breakfast with Robert, receiving flowers from Ted on his birthday to show his appreciation for her love, watching football games with Michael, playing with Smokey, the family dog and celebrating her many birthday parties with her family that Alice lovingly referred to as “Christmas in July”.
She enjoyed simple pleasures, like doing crossword puzzles, caring for her roses and watching the hummingbirds in her garden. She had a wry sense of humor and watching television in her later years, she would laugh and say “Hijole, what will they think of next?” She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude and appreciation to Armada Hospice of Albuquerque and all the caregivers at the Beehive Assisted Living Care Home of Albuquerque West, who tenderly cared for mom during her stay in the last 5 months of her life.
