Orpha C. Robles, age 95, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 12, 2017. Orpha, or “Nana”, as many affectionately knew her, was born on March 8, 1922 in Sena, New Mexico, to Juan and Matilde Chavez. She met the love of her life, Tom Robles, when they were 18 years old and working at the Kimo Theater in Albuquerque.  After being separated for a year due to Tom’s enlistment in the Army Air Corp, they wed on September 22, 1942 and enjoyed life’s adventures together for 68 years before Tom’s passing in 2010. Nana loved spending time with and caring for her family.  You could always count on Nana encouraging everyone who came to visit her to “eat, eat, eat” the delicious New Mexican food and desserts she would prepare.

Orpha is survived by her son Robert Robles and wife Karen, daughter Nancy Vermillion and husband Jack; grandchildren Eileen Gonzales and husband Ron, Robyn Hardy and husband Noah, Ryan Robles, Randall Robles, Brandon Vermillion, Jordan Vermillion, Jacqueline Pena and husband Matthew, and Kara Evans; great grandchildren Melee Hardy, Kaedman Hardy, Ben Gonzales, and Marissa Gonzales; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.  Orpha was preceded in death by her beloved husband Tom, daughter Cathy R. Burch, parents Juan and Matilde Chavez, brother Wenceslon Chavez, and sister Mary Lou Gabaldon.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Gate of Heaven Chapel, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE with the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 10:00 a.m..  Entombment will follow Mass at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ryan Robles, Randall Robles, Brandon Vermillion, Jordan Vermillion, Ron Gonzales and Noah Hardy; Ben Gonzales and Kaedman Hardy will serve as junior pallbearers.

The family wishes to thank the staff at New Beginnings Assisted Living Center, and Dr. Ellen Kim and the staff at Gentiva Hospice for the care they provided Orpha during the past year. Each of you holds a very special place in our hearts.
