Robert D. Chavez, age 89, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday, March 31st, 2018, with his loving family by his side. Mr. Chavez was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II. Robert worked for over 30 years for the United States Postal Service. Mr. Chavez is survived by his wife of 67 years, Beatrice Chavez; children, Dennis Chavez and girlfriend, Lucille Martinez, Rudy Chavez and wife, Doris, Jo Ann Martinez and husband, Lloyd; brother Pete D. Chavez; sisters, Carmen Baros, Yolanda Paulos and husband, Tony, Rosemary Mattila and husband, Scott; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. Mr. Chavez was preceded in death by his parents, Salvador and Paula Chavez; son, Steven Chavez; granddaughter, Raeanna Martinez; sister-in-law, Jennie Chavez; brother-in-law, Orlando Baros. A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna Road N.W., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.; a final visitation will be held Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Antonio Romo, Rudy Eugene Chavez, Christopher Chavez, Steven Chavez, Joseph Martinez, and Matthew Garduno. Honorary pallbearer will be Alex Romo.
