Rosenda (Rose) S. Barreras, of Albuquerque, NM, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on Sept. 3, 2017. Born in Los Lunas, NM, she graduated from Albuquerque Business College, and worked for the Economic Development Administration as a grant writer and administrator. She retired in 1986 as Director of Economic Development specializing in Indian Head Start programs, and housing development for multiple pueblos during her tenure. In 2008, she was voted, Inspiring Women of Bernalillo County.
Rose was an active member of the community volunteering at the San Felipe church museum and annual church fiestas where she was a faithful member.
She was predeceased by her husband Candelario (Candy). She is survived by her daughter Patricia Barreras; three grandchildren, Bil Hawkins, Katherine Bailey, Ken Crooks, and six great-grandchildren.
Rosary to be held on Sept. 28, 2017 at 6 pm at San Felipe Church, Mass on Sept. 29, 2017 at 10 am at San Felipe Church, burial to follow at Mount Calvary.
