Stephen (Steve) Gutierrez, age 77, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on December 6, 2024. Steve had a heart as big as the community he loved so much. He graduated from Rio Grande High School in 1966. His life was a testament to kindness, compassion, and selflessness.
Steve was known and loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His dedication to helping others was unmatched. He spent his life giving back through blanket drives, food drives, and being a helping hand to anyone in need. His generosity had no limits, and he always found a way to make a difference.
He was a devoted youth counselor for YDI, where he positively influenced the lives of countless young people. His guidance, patience, and understanding left a lasting impact on so many. He started the Los Señorita’s dance group, where the team would shine brightly. We would see them in parades, community events, the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon, trips to Disneyland, Disney World, and so many other events.
For those who knew him well, you’ll remember how much he loved doing his karaoke of Elvis Presley’s music at community events. His music brought joy and energy to every gathering, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Stephen is survived by his siblings, Diego Gutierrez, Charlie Gutierrez, Andrew Gutierrez, Michael Gutierrez and wife, Carmen, Alex Gutierrez, and Lupe Pollock; uncle, Fernando Sanchez; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
