Sylvia C. Aragon, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the age of 79.  She was a life-long resident of Los Lunas,  who was loved dearly by her family and friends.  Throughout her recent illness she was told by family, friends, doctors and nurses how beautiful she looked.  Sylvia is survived by her children, Donald, Ronald and wife, Dorothy, Jeff, Julie and husband, Bryan, Jimmy and wife, Monica; grandchildren, Jennifer and husband, Randy, Jessica and husband, Troy,  Janelle and boyfriend, Justin, Eric, and Isaiah; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Alijah, Ezra, Aislynn, and Eyan; step-great grandchildren, Hailey and Dalyn; sisters, Patricia De La Cruz, Elizabeth Lennon, Irene Roybal and husband, Buddy and Anna Mae Wood; brothers, Willie Chavez and wife, Lori, and Richard Chavez; many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, Fidel; parents, Augustine and Genevieve Chavez; brothers, Jerry, and Lorenzo Chavez.  Sylvia was known by many for her undying faith, her daily attendance at mass (48 yrs) and her special gift of reciting the Rosary.  She was a member of the San Clemente Altar Society for 45 years, a CCD teacher for 23 years, Youth Group Leader for 7 years, a Eucharistic Minister and Lector for 18 years, volunteer Eucharist Minister at Presbyterian Hospital for 7 years and received the St. Francis of Assisi Award from Archbishop Michael Sheehan for years of service to the Catholic Church.  She was a volunteer coordinator for United Blood Services for 18 years and a regular blood donor (7 gallons) for the same amount of time.  She belonged to the Benevolent, Patriotic Order of Does.  Sylvia retired from the State of New Mexico in 1998, working the majority of that time for the Dept. of Corrections.  She was named the 1997 Woman in Corrections for New Mexico.  She enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, puzzles and being with her family.  Visitation will be Friday, May 27, 2016 at San Clemente Catholic Church, 244 Luna Ave., Los Lunas, NM from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Phillip James.  Final visitation will be Saturday, May 28, 2016 at San Clemente Catholic Church, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Father Jim Marshall. Interment will follow at the San Clemente Catholic Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be her four sons, Donald, Ronald, Jeff and Jimmy, son-in-law Bryan, and grandson-in-law Randy.  Honorary pallbearers will be her two grandsons, Eric and Isaiah.  A special thank you to her caregivers Maria Quevedo and Vangie Romero for taking such good care of our mother.
