Walter C. Hubbell, Jr. passed away peacefully with family at his side, at the age of 88, on July 23rd, 2017. He was born in Albuquerque, NM to Mary Barela Hubbell and Walter C. Hubbell, Sr. on March 25, 1929. A descendant of the “Hubbell Clan” of Pajarito, South Valley, he was always a “downtown kid,” graduated from Albuquerque High School and later from University of Albuquerque with his Associates Degree. He served in the Army and spent his life working in many fields serving the public, which was his passion. His hobbies included antiquing and restoring classic cars and spending time with his granddaughters. He was charming, sweet, kind, hard-working, and generous.
He is survived by his son Lorenzo Hubbell, his daughter Betty Hubbell, his daughter Lisa Hubbell, and her fiancé Karl Dittrich, MD, his son Bobby Hubbell, his granddaughters Melissa Hubbell and Sarah Cordova, MD, and the mother of his children Lorenzo and Lisa, Connie H. Sanchez. He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Barela Hubbell, his father Walter C. Hubbell Sr., his brother Herbert Hubbell, his sisters Rosemary Hubbell and Jean Hubbell Cervantes, and the mother of his children Betty and Bobby Hubbell, Connie Montano. We will miss his funny rhymes, his warm and sparkling eyes, his mischievous smile and his soothing voice. We will never forget you Walter!
The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 26th at 7 pm with visitation beginning at 630 pm at Gabaldon Mortuary at 1000 Old Coors Drive SW, Albuquerque, NM 87121. A burial will be held the following day, July 27th at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 945 am.
