Wilfred Sylvester Lucero age 78, born in Tucumcari, New Mexico and a resident of Estancia, New Mexico, passed away on September 4, 2021. Mr. Lucero is survived by his wife of nine years, Karen Stallins Lucero; children, Evelyn Martinez, Nancy Gabaldon, Wilfred Lucero Jr., John Lucero and wife, Mary, Eric Lucero, Robert N. Lucero; numerous Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, and Great-great Grandchildren; siblings, Marie Jaramillo and husband, Anthony, Bobby Lucero, Edward Lucero and wife, Louise, Rick Lucero.
Wilfred - Willie - was an accomplished guitarist throughout his life performing with many bands including The BrotherHood Four and the long-time duo, Half & Half featuring Wilfred Lucero and Bill Harris. He also recorded music with Fats Domino and Chubby Checker. Willie was a construction superintendent for many years working all over New Mexico as well as out of state. In addition, he was a farmer and rancher well known for the family's hugely attended annual branding parties. His unique cowboy persona will be missed but forever in our hearts.
A Visitation will take place Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 6:30pm in The Gabaldon Memorial Chapel located at 1000 Old Coors Drive SW 8712, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm. A Mass will be held Friday, September 17, 2021 at 10:00am at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church located at 101 S 9th Ave, Estancia, NM 87016, with a Burial to follow to Estancias Memorial Cemetery located at 123 Co Rd A042, Estancia, NM 87016.
