After his retirement Mike went on to build houses, teaching himself electrical wiring, plumbing, and various construction skills. He used his many talents to build homes for family and friends. Mikes final project, during which he became ill, was building a house for his granddaughter.
Mike was best known for his sense of humor, and being extremely generous with his time, money, and skills. He would put everyone’s needs first no matter the sacrifice it meant for himself. He was incredibly intelligent and self taught in all areas that he set his mind to. When he had an idea he would persist until finding a solution.
Mike was also musically talented on the trumpet. In his younger years he performed hymns for his church. His music inspired his children to play various instruments growing up.
As a father, Mike was best known for his unconditional love, care and selflessness. He provided for his family no matter the long hours he had to put in to make sure they had all that was needed or wanted. Mike was always willing to sacrifice to make a better life for his family. As a grandfather and great-grandfather, Mike was exceptionally loving and giving. Not a day, time, or emergency went by that Mike did not show up for his grandchildren. He spent almost everyday with his son Mike, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren enjoying watching them grow, and helping them be their best selves. Out of the kindness of his heart, he would always bring them goodies which would put a smile on his face as well as theirs.
He will be profoundly missed by his family and friends and is forever irreplaceable. Knowing what a Godly man he was and that he is entering the kingdom of God, will give peace and comfort to us all.
