Florentino Montez

Florentino (Fred) Montez, born in San Antonito, New Mexico and resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2018 with his family by his side.  Mr. Montez is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 56 years, Lia (Jaramillo); daughter, Carmela Montez; sons, Fred Montez and wife, Yvonne, David Montez, and James Montez; his most precious granddaughter, Kayla Montez; sisters, Gloria Priebe, Mary Anne Croy and husband, Art and Virginia Mirabal; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and friends.  Mr. Montez was preceded in death by his parents, Merced and Lucarita (Otero) Montez; father and mother-in-law, Alcario and Viviana Jaramillo; brothers, Manuel and Robert Montez; sisters, Georgia Juarez and Lucy Gutierrez.

Fred retired from Wesco Electric after 20 years.  Prior to that he was a long-haul truck driver.  He was a lifelong and avid Lobo Fan.  He loved fishing and camping with his family and could make anything grow.  Together with his family he spent many summers in Jemez and Vallecitos, Colorado.  His passions were working on is yard and decorating his house to celebrate his favorite holiday, Christmas.  Nothing was more important to him than his family; including friends who became family.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Kaseman Medical Center and the Rust Medical Center, especially the compassionate nurses of the third floor at Rust for lovingly caring for our family and our father after his passing.   A special thank you to our dad’s devoted physician of 20 plus years, Dr. Patrick Rivera, you cared for our father with great care and were with him and us throughout this journey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Diabetes Association.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 9:45 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Dr. SW with a Rosary to be recited at 10:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow services at Mount Calvary Chapel. Pallbearers will be Ron Montez, Paul Tapia, Joseph Gutierrez, Eric Lucero, Diego Molina and Robert Saaverda.  Honorary pallbearers are Ernest Tapia, Jess Lucero, O.J. Hart, Joe Gutierrez, Eliseo Martinez, Buddy Bachicha and Adan Branchal.
